General Managers Update - Friday 11th May, 2012
New Members
A very warm welcome to the following new members who have joined since my last update:
- Jeff Stanton who has transferred to full membership from the 300 Club
- Francois Cournee & Maxime Bourne who have joined as intermediate members
- Andy Tillotson and Stephen Sinden who have joined as 300 club members

Advance Warning
We have been notified that the B474 Penn Road is due to be closed to through traffic for 7 nights starting some time w/c Monday 14th May 2012. We have been assured that at all times you will be able to get access to the golf club; however the B474 will be single lane throughout this period.
Due to the need to carry out maintenance work in the kitchen we will be unable to serve food on Monday 14th May between 9 and 11 am. Normal service will be resumed at 11 am. I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure.
On Line Tee Time Booking System
You can now book Weekday and Weekend Tee Times on-line. The switch over to on-line booking has gone very smoothly and over 200 members have already registered for on-line booking. The weekend booking sheets have been taken down, if you haven't registered yet then please do so as soon as possible - it is quite easy. You can download the instructions by clicking this link: ON-LINE REGISTRATION AND TEE TIME BOOKING INSTRUCTIONS. However, if you don't have Internet access or you want to book a tee time when you're at the club you can either, use the Clubhouse PC in reception or, contact the Pro Shop.
If you need further help to register and book a tee time on-line then join one of James Malliff's 'Drop In' Sessions this weekend on one of the following dates:

Pro Shop News
The first few weeks of trading in partnership with Nevada Bobs have been very successful, in the month of April our Clothing sales were approximately 120% up on the previous year, despite the poor weather. The partnership, which is not a franchise, enables us to get access to a wider selection of products plus, we can use their retailing expertise and their contact database of over 5,000 golfers in the local area. This has significantly increased our exposure to the nomadic golfers in the area. We are also very pleased to announce that for the months of May and June 2012 if members use their cards to pay for purchases in the Pro Shop they will receive 5% discount on all items other than Green Fees, Buggy and Trolley hire - so why not pop into the Pro Shop for a bit of retail therapy.
Membership Fee Draw
I have great pleasure in announcing that Brian Tickner has won this year's Membership Fee Draw. Brian has had his 2012/13 Membership Fee paid in full and the Special Projects Fund made £1,800 from the draw. The Special Projects Group hope to purchase some new Patio Tables and Chairs in the very near future and the money raised from the draw will go some way to fund this purchase. Many thanks go to Linda Rodgers for doing such a great job in selling the draw squares and also to all the members who bought a square. For those of you who didn't win - better luck next year!
Subscriptions
Would all members who have not paid their 2012/2013 subscriptions please do so as soon as possible. We have a delay of anything up to 10 days before we receive a copy of our bank statement, therefore could I ask all members who paid their subscriptions directly into our bank account since the 3rd May to email me with the details.
Nine & Dine - Friday 27th April
We had a good turnout for the first of the monthly Nine & Dine events for this year. Many thanks go to Gilly Stimpson, Ladies' Captain, for putting these events in this year's diary and to Ann Cox & Linda Rodgers who between them organize & manage the events. Last Friday twenty members played and more came to the supper afterwards and all had a very enjoyable time. It's a great way to meet other members of the club so why not come to the next one which is on Friday 25th May so put this in your diary now and book a tee time on-line - remember you can book 4 weeks in advance. Many congratulations to the first competition winners who received their winnings from Gilly Stimpson.

Diamond Jubilee Mixed Competition and BBQ - Tuesday 5th June, 2012
The next mixed competition will be held on the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday so put your names down on the booking sheet in the players' corridor. This is a little different from our normal mixed competitions in that it will start at 12:00 noon and we will have one of Lisle's fantastic BBQs on the patio instead of a half way house. You can eat before or after your round, and family & friends are welcome to the BBQ. Weather permitting it should be a fun and relaxing event.

Match News
Congratulations to the Ladies' Bucks Shield Team who won their home match against Lambourne on Wednesday 2nd May. Well done to the whole team - Gilly Stimpson, (Ladies' Captain), Emily Marler, Christina Graham, Andrea Hunt, Gill Redman, Jane Doyle & Jeanette Dunlap. We wish them the very best of luck for their 2nd round match away against Burnham Beeches.
Competition News
Well done to Brian Rodgers who recently won a Bucks Captains' Competition held at Redbourn Golf Club.
The New Members' Cup that was due to take place on Sunday 13th May has been postponed; a new date will be issued in due course.
