Welcome

Please find below the Update for this week ~ 9th September, 2009

NEW MEMBERS: The following people have joined the club since my last update:
Colin Saunders has joined as an adult playing member.
Susan Johns who was a £300 card member has now transferred to a adult playing member.
John Newell has joined as a social member.
A very warm welcome to Colin, Susan and John

Adam Blackwell Golf Day: I am very pleased to be able to inform you that the Adam Blackwell Golf Day went very well raising £3,145 for Ward 4b (Kamran's) at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford.  Well done to Ryan Blackwell, a club member, and his family who worked extremely hard to ensure the day was successful.  I have to make special mention of 2 of our members; Simon Bennett and Danny Griffin who at less than one hours notice provided the disco for the evening function as the band who were due to perform called off at the last minute.

Murder Mystery Evening 26th September 2009: The menu for the murder mystery evening has been agreed as follows:
Starter: Roasted Autumn Vegetable Soup with Crusty Bread
Main Course: Slow Roast Loin of Pork served with Braised Mixed Cabbage, apple mash and Cider Jus
Sweet: Old English Sherry Trifle
There are still both places and tables available at £25 person which includes the meal and entertainment.

Beginner Group Lessons Gavin and Christian are running a series of beginner group lessons in September and October. The program is 4 x 60 minutes lessons with a maximum of 6 people per group to ensure quality coaching.  The normal price is £59 but they are running a SPECIAL OFFER - HALF PRICE IF BOOKING FOR THE SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER  Programme - £29.50 per person. The program starts on Sunday 27th September with a Morning Session at 10:00am and an Afternoon Session at 1.30pm.  If you or any one you know are interested please contact the Pro Shop.

A Great Big Thank you goes to the following ladies who have made the club 100 formal chair covers to be used at
future weddings or banquets etc:

Linda Rodgers Lyn Radley
Isobel Redman
Margaret Beal Jean Wheeler
Gill Redman Pam Wardrop
Kay McDowell
Carol Line Xandra Morley
Gilly Stimpson Betty Bravington
Maureen Rider
Jean Carter Judy Young

Even though the ladies have only just finished making the covers Emily has hired them out at the wedding that is being held in the club this weekend and also the first wedding to be held next year.

Volenteers Wanted: the next project that Linda and the ladies are undertaking on behalf of the club is the re-upholster of the conference chairs; this requires volunteers to strip off the existing fabric and secure the seat fixing bolts prior to the seat cushion being re-upholstered.  Clearly a job for the men!  If you can spare some time to help out please contact either Linda or myself.  If by any chance there is anyone who can upholster then your help will be particularly welcome.

Friday Night Dinning: for operational reasons the Friday Dinning Program has been changed and the new program is on the Social Events page on the website.  Important dates of note are:
Friday 25th September Brendans Famous Carvery
Friday 9th October the Greek Evening
One of the reasons for the change of schedule is that we want to hold a Brazilian evening on Friday 16th October in order to give Josh Stanners a sending off before he leaves for the world wide final of the Nick Faldo series in Rio de Janeiro.  More details will follow in due course, make sure you mark the date in your diary.

Recent weddings: As you may recall from recent updates in August we had a very large wedding and I thought you would be interested in the feed back we received:
Everybody was looked after perfectly by your fine team.  The wedding breakfast was excellent, delightfully cooked and superbly presented.  The service by the waitresses was second to none and the bar staff  were very efficient in serving the drinks.  Nothing was too much trouble and led to a memorable experience for us all.

In order to increase the number of weddings at the club we will be holding a Wedding Open Day on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October.  Open Daily from 11am to 4.00pm.  The purpose of the Wedding Open Day is for prospective Brides and Grooms (mums and dads) to come along to Hazlemere and see what facilities we have to offer and to promote ourselves as a Wedding Venue for the local area.  The Luke Donald Suite will be set up for a small Wedding and will give clients the chance to see our Linen, Cutlery, Crockery and Glassware, along with Chair Covers.  If you or anyone in your family or circle of friends are looking to plan a wedding come along and see what we have to offer.  In the future we will hold 2 Wedding Open Days a year one in early Spring and again October time.

Help a local charity and enjoy a Trip to NORMANDY by EUROSTAR: 27th September to the 1st October: 5 days 4 nights (2 people).  The South Bucks Hospice has been donated the above break by a very nice lady that cannot go!  All that has to be paid is £30 to change the name on the tickets and a donation to the hospice of £200/£250. The original cost of the trip through Rivera travel was £828.50 which has been fully paid.  However the change to the tickets needs to be made BY THE 10th September.
Travel via Eurostar from St Pancras (departing 12.29pm on the 27/09/09), a coach will pick you up from Gare du Nord and take you to the hotel in Rouen there are numerous excursions included in the price.  The Eurostar returns at 19.34 on the 1/10/09.  I have full details in the office.

Best regards
