Social Events
Come and wish Josh Stanners the best of luck in the Nick Faldo World finals in Rio de Janeiro. On Friday the 16th October we will be serving various Brazilian and South American dishes including Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi, it will also be an opportunity to enjoy a Caipirinha cocktail or a Brahma beer, so don’t miss the opportunity to see Josh off in style. The full menu and sign up sheet are on display in the club house.

The next members quiz is being held on the 6th of November 2009, it marks the 20th year that our own "quiz inquisitor" David Balfour has perplexed and delighted audiences with his questions.  To celebrate this milestone there will be some "special questions" added to those categories decided by David.  Don’t miss the night; make sure you enter your team on the sign up sheet on the notice board in the players' corridor.

Course information
Please be aware that the greens are to be Verti Drained on Wednesday 14th October 2009. This is much needed maintenance work has not been carried out for 3 years; the process will help break up compaction in the root zone to give a healthy sward in the coming seasons.  There will be some surface disruption which may effect putting for a day or two.  Russell and the team will cut and top dress the greens as soon as possible afterwards to minimise any disruption.  As each green is being worked on the temporary green will be in play.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I am pleased to announce that the golf committee has approved the use of Distant Measuring Devices in all club medals and club competitions.  In line with EGU rules this is limited to devices that only calculated distance.  Full details are displayed in the players’ corridor.

New Years Eve, the club will be holding its traditional New Years Eve Ball; tickets will go on sale at the AGM.  More details will be available near the time.

Wedding Open Day Update
I am very pleased to report that our wedding open day event was a great success.  Not only did 3 new weddings book for next year, we also booked a 50th birthday party and a joint 30th Birthday party.  A very big well done to Emily, Brendan and Shaun whose hard work ensured that the event went so well.
