After a little splutter England have at long last started to show the form that we know they are capable of and as I am sure you are aware they have been rewarded with the opportunity to put one over on a team who have perhaps had the rub of the green against them since that great day in 1966. Why not join us at the club to enjoy the England versus Germany match on Sunday. Kick off is at 3 pm, the world cup menu will be available until kick off, members discount on drink prices will be increased to 10% from 1.00 pm onwards and at half time you will be able to enjoy complimentary sausage rolls and pasties. You can take part in the "guess the time of the goal competition" with the winners sharing half the proceeds, the balance going to the bunker fund.  On Wednesday afternoon after the 2nd roll over the previous competition was won by Linda Rodgers who received £117.50, the same amount went into the bunker fund.

Whilst the majority of us were enjoying a relaxing day last Sunday, Gavin Cousins, head professional and Russell Lucas, head green keeper, were both taking part in the London to Brighton bike race raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. The course was over a 54 mile route and I am pleased to say that both Gavin and Russell, whose son Aaron who many of you would have seen serving behind the bar occasionally, also took part and completed the course. Well done to the three of them.

We are looking for volunteers to help re paint the various shelters around the course, Linda Rodgers is co-ordinating the work which will start on Tuesday 6th July and Thursday 8th July at 9.00 am. It would be really appreciated if as many members as possible would help, even if you can only spare a couple of hours please come along and support the club.

Best Regards
