Veterans' Section Christmas Dinner

Ladies' Section Christmas Dinner

On Friday the 27th November, 2009 the Veterans' Section held their annual Christmas Dinner and Prize Giving.  There was a record turnout to see John Elliston complete his year as Veterans' Captain with 104 people attending.  Unfortunately, due to illness, two people were unable to attend.

The night was a great success and £405 was raised for the Captain's Bunker Fund.  A big thanks you to all who donated so generously.  The Club Captain, Terry Coulson, presented the prizes to the winners.  The food, service and atmosphere were superb and the night has set a new standard for the future.

On the 8th December, 2009 the Ladies' Section held their annual Christmas Dinner with 67 Ladies attending.  The evening was the usual fun packed event with entertainment between courses and after the meal.

Ann Cox organized silly games which appealed to the competitive nature of Lady Golfers and Maureen Rider read a very clever and humorous doggerel she had written over coffee one morning about golf heaven and hell.  As a tribute to the 2009 Ladies Captain, Carol Line, a group of Ladies sang a very witty song about Carol which had been written by Judy Young.

After the meal, which was wonderful, the Ladies were entertained by a cast of thousands, well maybe 15, who delivered a synopsis of several pantomimes updated to reflect the modern day.  This very clever and funny pantomime was written by Judy Young, Directed by Ann Cox and the Music Director was Mary Jefferies.

Veterans' Captain's Drive In - 7th December, 2009

On Monday the 7th December, 2009 the Veterans' Captain, Ian Bogart, held his Drive In.  Ian was more successful this time and drove196 yards.  The winner for guessing the length of the drive was Geoff Bourne who won a bottle of whiskey - was it a co-incidence that he was also the official measurer?  Well done Geoff I am sure he did not place a branch across the fairway to prevent Ian from making a longer drive.
