Letter from the Captain - Terry Coulson

Dear All

I would like to thank you all for your fantastic support and generosity in making the day a great success. The warm weather (thanks to my Vice Captain Chris Spencer) and large numbers of members, friends and family help create a party atmosphere which I hope you all enjoyed as much as Sylvia and I.

With donations from players on the day (161 took part), contributions from members unable to make the day, "free" putts on the 9^th green, the putting competition and a percentage from the Sonic Club cleaning service we raised over £1,800 for the bunker fund.

I would also like to give very special thanks to the following

Russell and his team for presenting the course so immaculately and to recognise the fantastic progress made in bringing the greens back into play, the recent warmer weather at last complementing the enormous effort they have made since the devastating weather conditions at the start of the year.

Brendan and his team for the excellence of the catering and front of house service, despite the heat and extraordinary large numbers of customers. The Cajun chicken and cheese wraps at the halfway house were wonderful and the barbecue was absolutely awesome.

The Ladies' Captain, Olive Vance, for providing an outstanding team of ladies to help with reception, halfway house, "free putting" and the putting competition.

Gavin, Christian and Russell for their help in the putting competition layout and the placement of the pin and tee positions on the course (much appreciated by all the players!!).

The Past Captains (Men and Ladies) for the help and advice in putting together the day, in particular John Morley and Brian Rodgers for checking the 40 plus Team Cards.

Garry Hartley for his brilliant photography, managing to capture the wonderful spirit of the day as well as the beauty of the course. I do hope you get to see the photos on the web site.

Last but no means least to all the players who took part in a testing but I think fair competition in very warm conditions, and congratulations to all the prize winners.
