2010 Club Championships
Hazlemere Golf Club held both the Ladies' and Men's Club Championships this week in dry, sometime sunny, but windy conditions. The golf course was in fantastic condition with the slickest greens seen this year and provided a challenging but fair test for all participants. Many thanks must go to Russell and his team for all the hard work they have done since the awful weather conditions during the winter months. The course is now back to a great condition with a little help from 'Mother Nature' who finally complemented their hard work by producing some better ground temperatures over the last few weeks.
Ladies' Club ChampionshipWednesday the 16th June, 201022 ladies set out in the morning for their first round and produced some very good scores despite the gusting wind. After a break for lunch the ladies set out again but the wind was even stronger and this affected some of the afternoon scores.
Ann Cox was leading the field after the 1st 18 holes but Alwen Mann produced a steady second round and won the Ladies' Club Championship by one point beating Ann Cox to 2nd place. The nett championship was won by Xandra Morley who beat Margaret Beal by 5 shots. The overall results are as follows:-
In the evening the ladies who played in the Club Championship were joined by other members of the Ladies' Section to enjoy a great evening in the Luke Donald Suite. Many thanks go to Brendan, Lisle, Ian and their teams for providing the excellent meal and service.
Following the dinner the Ladies' Captain, Olive Vance, presented the prizes and trophies for the major competitions played so far this year as well as the prizes and trophies for the Ladies' Club Championship.

Men's Club ChampionshipSaturday & Sunday the 19th & 20th June, 201086 men set out on Saturday for their first round and only 4 shots separated the top ten players at the end of Day 1. Defending Champion Phil Clark led with Josh Stanners and David Taylor on level par with Steve Morvell and Jamie Hunt just 1 shot behind followed by Tom Wooster on 2 over, Adam Batty on 3 over and Nick Joy, Lee Putnam and Ollie Maskell on 4 over par.
The Nett competition on Day 1 was even tighter with only 3 shots separating the top 10 players, in fact, you had to look halfway down the second page of the leader board before finding a player over nett par. Dark horse, Jim Perry, and Tom Wooster both shot a 4 under par nett 66 and the only other similarity between them was that they are both left handed. Picking up players not already mentioned on the gross scores were Pete Putnam at 3 under, Ray Joy at 2 under with Rod Jones, David Marshall and Jake Morris all at 1 under.
60 men made the cut off and were able to play on the second day which produced a convincing result with Jamie Hunt winning the Club Championship by an astounding 6 shots!! Only 1 shot divided the runner up Josh Stanners from Steve Morvell in 3rd place. Pete Putnam won the Nett Championship Competition by 3 shots and Tom Wooster beat Ollie Maskell to 3rd place by 1 shot.
The Club Captain, Terry Coulson, thanked all who made the weekend so enjoyable and run so smoothly:-
